Biography
Although not the founder, Amala is considered the mother of the clan. Despite the fact that she's a bogsneak, she is loving and nurturing, and, although she likes to sleep alone, she will never turn away a friend if anyone needs some tea, a kind word, or even just someone to listen. Kind and playful, she always seems to know the answer to everything - although she is prone to making something up on the spot if she doesn't actually know the answer. But don't let her warm demeanor fool you, she is also a fierce fighter, and often accompanies Lysiae and Brer to the coliseum.
***
Amala had always been steady as a rock. Even as a hatchling, she was dependable, and could be counted on to help with other hatchlings or to complete any chore she was asked to finish. She'd wanted to be a mother since before she was even fully grown, but this was rather uncharacteristic of bogsneaks. She didn't like the solitary life in the swamps, with other bogsneaks around but never very friendly, and so she set off to find a clan that would take her in and let her be a part of it.
It didn't take her long to find Lysiae's clan, which didn't even have ten members at the time. If you asked her why she decided to stay there, with the stand-offish Brer and the easily excitable Lysiae, she would merely shrug and say that she felt it was where she belonged. Whatever her reasons, she compliments the other two perfectly, providing the warmth and love that a clan leader should. She knows the name of every hatchling, even when they've only had names for a few hours, and can often be found playing with them and teaching them about the world around them.
***
Amala earned her piece of Brer's lapis jewelry almost as soon as they met. Brer had just hatched his first two daughters, who later went to serve the Gladekeeper, but as hatchlings they were everything that he wasn't: excitable, full of words that spilled out regardless of whether or not anyone was listening, and always running around and getting underfoot. Brer, the quiet, somewhat distant Brer, was completely overwhelmed. Amala stepped in to help, listening to every story and singing them to sleep with her deep voice, and as soon as there was some quiet in Brer's den he presented her with a leg band in gratitude. At first Amala refused it, but she found it later in her own den. She eventually decided that it was too fine not to wear, and has hardly taken it off since.
