Formally Dead, Casually Living
Jumanji A former Coli fighter who scoured the Ghostlight Ruins as a day job, fighting back Tengu beastclans and bringing back valuable materials to clients. When battling a pack of Somber Spirits, a lucky shot felled Jumanji, mortally wounding her. Her assailant tried to finish her off, but the two mages who accompanied Jumanji acted in haste and cast Runes on their fallen ally, sealing the Spirit in her body. Jumanji supposes that she died shortly after her accident, but the "ghost in her shell" keeps her body alive. A few years have passed, and this Spiral has adapted well to her zombie-like lifestyle. She can't quite walk straight, sometimes believing her Somber Spirit is pulling her limbs in different directions, or that her body is getting stiff. Her humor has grown morbid, and without fear of death, a permanent—if sometimes unsettling—cheerfulness has taken over her features. Another side effect of her fearlessness is recklessness. She still fights in Ghostlight Ruins—and anywhere else she's needed—often needing one of her partners to remind her she's dead, and needs to take care of what's left of herself. Her Familiar follows her around sheerly because it thinks she's food. Over time and over many travels, her Runes have worn thin and her control over her limbs has lessened. A necessary detour to Arcane flight earned her a new set of golden patches—infused with the same sealing magic—to keep her Somber Spirit from escaping.
