Ilona is the mate of the original dragon to the Alphire lair, Alphire. She found him while leaving home to explore more. When she found Alphire, both dragons only had basic traits. They didn't mind since they weren't in much danger in a lesser lair. Over time, Ilona and Alphire have gone through their phases of leading and not, making sure that the best leader could be in charge. Eventually, they allowed themselves to be the Betas, making sure Nessy and Onisphoros had dragons they could trust to fall back on.

During her stay in the lair, Ilona's wings and body grew accustomed to the waves and eventually they started getting a pattern to match the water. Ilona and eventually Alphire gained the Savannah and Safari genes to mimic the ocean and to protect themselves with hiding. Of course, the genes are now a favorite in the lair with many of the Naomi Descendants having Savannah. But they don't mind. Ilona enjoys to use her patterns to hide from others while on patrol only to come back around and scare them. Kahu sometimes helps.

With Ilona and Alphire, the two are never far from one another or the lair they have held strong for the generations to come. Their children have started to go out and spread through the many regions with the Savannah and Safari gene.
