”sticks and stones may break my bones, (but words can never hurt me)” Umbra was just a small guardian hatchling, born to a well respected pair of guardian parents in a clan primarily dominated by said dragon race. She was a very confused hatchling at the time and didn’t see eye to eye with her other hatch mates that were her ‘friends’ at the time. The reason for this is that she had different views then what the clan leader had. For the clan leader would ruthlessly attack other dragon clans for their food stores and gold hordes just for pleasure, though they had plenty to survive. Another thing that bothered the female hatchling at the time was that their was a lack of respect of roles in the clan. Especially to the mothers of recently laid eggs. A couple years later, Umbra was an adult guardian dragon with constant males trying to get her to mate with them. She couldn’t stand the males that thought that they could do whatever they wanted, especially to someone like her, and her heritage! Eventually, she ‘agreed’ to mate with one of the stubborn males in her clan. But she had a surprise hidden in her wings, for she wasn’t just going to mate with this male, but defend her honor. In the following morning, the male had tattered and possibly torn wings from how well Umbra attacked the male, and with the way that the clan leader held things, she eventually got banished from her clan... Following her banishment, she wandered the islands in search of a new place to call her home. This is where she eventually made her clan in The Tangled Wood, unknown to her that this was the home of the patron of shadow itself. She carefully navigated her way through the underbrush and undergrowth to find a decently clear clearing. This is where The Valley of Shadows began in its infancy... Though she didn’t know much about her current surroundings, she moved carefully in the place she called home, for she always believed that she was being watched. And she was correct in that regard, for The Shadowbinder noticed that a new dragon was on her territory. Umbra noticed the way that the shadows shifted at her feet as she walked through the woods. The Domina Umbra that was born to the well known guardian family of her old clan was gone, for she had changed. The shadows changed the female, and so did the way that she looked, for her body morphed to be darker in color to blend into the surrounding areas... If you ever see eyes deep in forest undergrowth when traveling in The Tangled Wood, don’t be afraid. For it is just a Umbra Wolf, scouting for its master. |
