Silverslash's tale is not a happy one. From the moment of his hatching, he was forced into slavery by humanoid beasts. One slave, among many dozens. Destined to labor until his dying day in the depths of the beasts' mines.

Many others had accepted their fate. Silverslash had not. With every passing day, his desire for freedom grew greater. Loathe to submit to oppression, but unable to singlehandedly change their situation, he spread subversive attitudes among his fellow draconic slaves. For that, he was severely punished - or rather, an attempt was made to severely punish him. He dismembered his tormentors, ending their miserable lives, and challenged any others to attempt the same.

A rebellion began. A short lived rebellion, however. The beasts utilized new, magical methods of subjugation, regaining control of the slaves. For his role the uprising, Silverslash was sentenced to death by gladiatorial combat.

What the beasts didn't expect was for their execution to go awry - rather than being defeated in the arena, Silverslash triumphed. The popularity of the match was incredible, and a financially-minded decision was made - he was to fight day in and day out as a gladiator, fight in death match after death match, until the day that he would finally be defeated.

His battles drew massive crowds of beasts, who cheered for him and called him a "champion." Soon, his slavers grew complacent, convinced that he had been tamed, that he was only a danger in the arena. The spells that bound him began to lapse. They were convinced that he had been tamed, but they were wrong. When he at last made his escape, Silverslash slaughtered dozens upon dozens of beasts, decimating the ranks of their slavers and warriors.

He was finally free - but what does a slave know of freedom? Violent and bitter, his mind and body scarred and twisted, he found no clan willing to accept him. No clan willing to grant him a chance at a "normal" life. That is, until the Clan of Second Chances.

Prior to his arrival, the clan was merely a disorganized handful of cruel dragons, a handful of outcasts and criminals that had formed a haphazard agreement of truce. Silverslash changed that.

Leadership is a role which suits him well. Even among such monstrous dragons, he is truly the most monstrous of them all. His very presence commands respect and obedience.

Few are dissatisfied by his leadership. Fewer still seek to usurp his throne. As leader, he values fairness and equality above all else - centuries of slavery quite literally beat those values into him. He does not seek to be given great privileges or to be revered. He merely demands obedience.

If one is to be perfectly honest, however, he does enjoy the privilege of a harem. Currently, Silverslash entertains the company of four mates, and it is likely that this number will increase as the Clan of Second Chances continues to grow. Through his incredible charisma, his incredible stamina, and the surprising depth of his affection, he ensures that every one of said mates feels no resentment or jealousy - only pleasure.

Those dragons who are dissatisfied with the Guardian's rule feel that their leader is too much of a warmonger, agitating and antagonizing the local clans of beasts merely to fulfil his own desire for combat without end. All are well aware, however, that to turn on Silverslash is tantamount to a death sentence. He values the dragons of his clan only so long as they are loyal and useful - traitors will be swiftly eliminated.

As such, it may seem strange that he allows a literal faction of traitors to exist within the Unrepentant clan, including such treacherous dragons as Nightshade and Hoarfrost. In actuality, he allows this faction to exist as a testament to his supreme confidence, to his absolutely certainty that no attempt to overthrow him will ever succeed. He's likely correct.

In Silverslash, the Clan of Second Chances has found the leader that it truly deserves. However, he desires to lead a far greater and more powerful clan, to lead an army against the beasts that enslaved him. As such, he trains his warriors harshly, with all the resentment of a truly merciless commander.

His patience is tested daily, and he is often tempted to abandon the Unrepentant dragons to their own devices - or rather, to their own infighting, backstabbing, and general chaos.

For now, his patience has held, but there is no telling what the future may bring.
