"Careful. You could take a nasty fall here. I've seen it happen."

One of the stranger dragons to find their way to the Draumer Den, Aion simply wandered in one day and made himself at home. After he was eventually discovered and made it known he had no plans to leave, Aion was put to work doing odd jobs and menial tasks around the lair. Tullius eventually asked Aion to help him in a fighting demonstration for some trainees and, upon discovering Aion was a skilled fighter, immediately made him a part of the clan’s excursion team. Aion’s appearance tends to bring questions to anyone who looks too closely. While clearly still in the prime of his youth Aion sometimes possesses the eyes and mannerisms of a much older and world-weary dragon. While the black opalite that dots his scales is not unheard of. Observers have noted the patches seem to grow and move across his skin. A notion he is quick to dismiss. His clothes are outdated and well worn but he is reluctant to part with them claiming they once belonged to his father. Though always polite, Aion seems unwilling to befriend anyone beyond anything more than a casual acquaintance. He spends a great deal of time hanging around the tavern and seems to enjoy listening to others talk a great deal. No one knows where Aion came from, not even Argonia. He was just suddenly there one day. He arrived at the height of Marco’s grand excavation. Abyssle had already left the lair but Argonia and Thebis had yet to arrive. Worse still the Draumer Den was in absolute chaos. The clan split evenly between those who thought they should stay and those that felt the lair should be abandoned. It was during that time that Aion managed to slip through their defenses and make himself at home unnoticed for quite some time. It wasn’t until some time later when things had settled down that those who remained in the lair began to take notice of him. When asked about how and why he came to be at the Draumer Den Aion would offer polite but frustratingly vague responses. Still, after as the years passed and Aion proved himself to be nothing but helpful, clan members grew less and less weary of him. If Aion has any family he never speaks of them beyond the occasional passing comment and even those are few and far between. While very few in the Den would be comfortable calling Aion a trusted friend, there are a handful of dragons who have spent enough time with him to gauge his character. As part of the excursion party, Caligo and Argonia have spent more time with him than anyone else in the clan. Caligo has spent much of that time trying to get under the Pearlcatcher’s skin in an attempt to get him to open up with very limited success. Argonia, on the other hand, scrutinizes Aion’s every move closely. She trusts him enough to watch her back in combat but can’t quite shake the feeling that there's something more to Aion then she’s seeing The Fortress of Ends Bizarrely Aion met Marco while he was on his way to see the dig one last time and warned the imperial not to disturb any of the relics still buried. Marco, thinking that Aion was simply another overly superstitious local, brushed his warnings aside and continued. Several minutes later Aion found Tullius and told him that Marco had gone down to the excavation site and may be in trouble. The early warning allowed Tullius to make it there only seconds after the explosion and likely saved Marco’s life. It was also what lead to Aion’s eventual discovery. |
