Burning

Nuodai was born in the Southern Icefeild, but didn't spend much of his early life there. Some might whisper of shady arrangements and slavery, but this never quite felt like it was the way of things to him. He traveled with adoptive parents and apprenticed as a merchant.

Their travels took them to the shattered and twisted region of the Starfall Isles. While there they found their route was blocked by hostile beast clan, and they had to select an alternate route. The new route took them through the campus of some ancient and unknown facility. The ruins were no more than foundation shells, grown over by an age's worth of crystal and plant life. It was an older path that had been abandoned after parts of the nearby road had begun to cave in, leaving behind enormous, yawning sinkholes. The sinkholes belched colorful and concerning gasses from time to time, and a prismatic miasma settled into the deep recesses of the ruins in certain summer seasons.

The young Imperial stayed near to the caravan, but it did not protect him from danger. A section of road collapsed right under them, taking all but the swiftest and most able flyers into the depths. The gangly young Nuodai was one of the fallen, and the only one to make it out alive.
Pools of concentrated magical essences and runoff from some ancient industry filled the lower chasms. Hunks of dangerous debris made for poor landing among the rubble. Nuodai was light and quick compared to many of the other fallen, and his youth meant he was more resilient when faced with the toxic arcane miasma. The caverns were varyingly dark and luminous, some portions filled with dazzling and maddening collections of light. By the time the young imperial climbed from the depths his scales had been soaked in the magical pollution, burning through them and leaving him with brilliantly colored, oozing scars and wounds.
Once he was free of the horrible place, he recovered slowly and wandered lost through the Starwood Strand until he reached the Wandering Contagion.

Colorful Tailor

Nuodai came to join the Clan of Singing Blood mostly by chance. His increadable resiliance was enough to earn him the favor of any plague dragon.

Here he settled down and took the clan's gardener, Zahrada as his mate. He continued to learn various trades but eventually settled as the clan's Tailor. He had an eye for color and well knew textiles and trade. He tended to be laid back, talkative, and somewhat forgetful. Sometimes he would babble on in a mad kind of way, and more than a few dragons who came to know him suspected him of being a little soft in the head. For a while, he had an assistant, Eudach, but the fae felt neglected by his boss and quit very suddenly. Nuodai did not notice that his assistant was missing for several months.

Devouring Touch

After a short time, Zahrada fell ill. The efforts of maintaining a garden in the plaguelands grew too difficult, and she left for home in the Shrieking Wilds. Nuodai was heartbroken and determined to find her. While searching he became hopelessly lost in the Gladekeeper's forests, and only made it out again thanks to the help of Erytheia, who took him in.

She learned he was from a plague clan and set herself to join him when he returned home, as she had always been enamored with plague and its nature, and the interplay of balance between the two sister elements. Under her care, both the garden and Nuodai flourished.

Nuodai loved her dearly, but then she too fell ill, just as Zahrada had. Some in the clan claimed this was proof of the weakness of nature dragons, and that they were simply incompatible with the plaguelands, but Erytheia did not believe this. She also had no intention of fleeing, as Zahrada before her. While Nuodai searched for a source of her illness, even seeking out Sahko, the Elementalist for aid, her condition worsened until she was taken into Siekte's care.

Eventually, the cause of Erytheia's and Zahrada's illness was determined to be Nuodai himself. He was cursed, and all that he would come to love would be withered by his touch. Whatever foulness had soaked into his scales all those years ago manifested as a deadly aura which drained the life of those who were close to him. This draining, in turn, had strengthened Nuodai, but it had been at a hidden and horrifying cost. Perhaps that had been the reason that he alone made it out of the depths of the arcane ruins alive.

Nuodai was horrified and immediately set to arranging for his love to be removed from the clan. It had taken them this long to find out it was his fault, and he did not know if it would be possible to fix, or how long that might take, and in the meantime, Erytheia could have easily perished. She loathed leaving her love, her garden, and her clan. Had it been up to her, she might have remained and died there. Certainly, such a decision would have been viewed and honorable among some of the clan but Nuodai would not allow that.

Windbinder

Nuodai had resolved that he would not love again. Indeed, he did not think he could. But when a new dragon arrived in the garden he realized he was mistaken. Perhaps it was part of his curse that he was drawn to dragons which were the embodiment of vitality and vibrant life. He warned Sam of his curse, but she was not to be deterred from him. She bade him nest with her and he did, and she took the three eggs from the nest and from them she created a powerful wind spell which would protect her from the curse.

He loved her dearly. It seemed like all would be well forever, but that is not the way of things. In the south, the winds ceased, and Nuodai thought Sam's heart had ceased with them. He couldn't stand to see her suffer so, and even when the Twisting Crescendo was reborn he could tell she was unsettled.

He had already begun making his final arrangements to leave the clan before she told him of her intention. She had to go someplace else. He wanted to go with her, but he knew he would not be able to keep up with the winds which drove her. Even so, he could not remain with the Clan of Singing Blood without her, for each day would be a reminder of his past love.

Silk Threads

Nuodai resumed his travels and trade, at first keeping close to his old clan and to the resources of Finnigan, but slowly branching out from there. He favored the trade of textiles, as he knew the ins and outs of that industry best. That was how he met Ragyou, though he had actually heard of her long before then when he was still working as a Tailor for the nobles and wealthy in the Bloodsinger's territory. It was through her that he eventually joined a new clan, to better help in marketing and trade of her goods and to secure for her all the finest materials at the most reasonable of rates.
