Biography

From the writings of Maevy, Senior Scribe of the Suncliff City- as told to him by Fjord, the clan's founder and patriarch:

His first memory was warmth. A cozy, almost muffled sort of warmth, accompanied by a vague sense that there should have been something else in his mind. There wasn't.

It was as if he had been freshly hatched all over again, though even with his confusingly blank mind Fjord was sure that wasn't true- he was, after all, fully grown.

He wasn't alone, either- there was another dragon beside him, slightly smaller and a different color, but otherwise similar-looking. Moss, he knew instinctively. Those two names- his and that of his companion- were two things he knew for certain. For that he was grateful- awakening with no name, he thought, would have been worse.

Fjord inhaled deeply. If sunlight had a smell, he thought, this was what it would smell like- a clean, comforting scent of the wild spaces. A light breeze lifted his clouds of silvery fur, and soft yellowish grasses waved and whispered around the two dragons' feet.

Moss turned to look him over, and in her eyes he saw the same vague confusion he felt, reflected.

"You... you smell like a partner," she said, her eyes clearing a little bit as she scented him. Fjord gave her the tiniest of smiles.

He wasn't sure entirely what had transpired to bring them here. But it was peaceful, and warm. He felt safe in the company of this one other dragon. (more than safe. Moss smelled like someone he could love, maybe, given time and a clearer mind.)

And in the back of his mind, there chimed a vague notion that their presence here was meant as a sort of peace offering. Children of ice- that was what they were supposed to be, he felt. That was what they had been, once. Or maybe it had been their ancestors before them.

They were children of the light, now.
