Charles

Charles opened his eyes. On the horizon he could see the lighting farm surrounded by a swirling thunderstorm. He slowly stood up, shaking his wings. behind him he could hear dragons running around. A little dragonet comes running over and jumps on Charles, making him fall over.
" Your awake. I've been waiting alllllll day for you to wake up. Now can you teach me how to fly?" The little dragon asks. Charles looks at her and smiles.
" Yeah I suppose I could," He says.
" Yayyyy. When do we start?" She asks excitedly.
" As soon as you get off of me." He says laughing. She rolls off of him and lays on the ground waiting for him to get up. Standing up he motions for her to follow. She jumps up and down in excitement. He heads toward the canyon. Soon the little dragon was far ahead of him. He sighs.
" Jasmine get back here!" He yells. Ahead he can see Jasmine's head droop as she turns around and walks back to him.
" Don't worry you'll have lots of time to explore later. Right now I need to teach you how to fly." Charles says, making Jasmine's head perk up again.
" Ok well let's start with the basics. When you take off..."
Soon Jasmine had almost perfected flying. After a while of watching her fly around in circles Charles joined her in the air.
" Do you think you can handle a race yet?" He asks. Jasmine immediately nods her head.
" Okay. We start here and whoever makes it back to the lair first wins." He says.
" Three, two, one." He starts flying toward the lair. Jasmine catches up pretty quickly and nudges him, throwing him off balance. She laughs and fly's away. Charles smiles and takes a shortcut to the lair. soon he could see the lair. He looked around and didn't see Jasmine so he assumed he was in first place. As soon as he landed he remembered he didn't teach Jasmine how to properly land. He winces as Jasmine crashes beside him. She gets up laughing.
" You forgot to teach me how to land silly." She says.
" Yeah I probably should get on that another day." He replies smiling. He looks back towards the lighting farm. It felt like it was calling him. He knew that there was something waiting for him out there, he just wasn't sure what it was. Behind him he heard someone coming up behind him. He turns to see Jasmine's mother walking up to him.
" Thanks for teaching Jasmine how to fly. I would of taught her but I had something to do. Is there anything you want as payment?" She asks. Charles shakes his head.
" No thanks. It was fun to teach her. She caught on pretty quickly and I think if she practices she will get landing pretty quickly as well." He replies with a smile. Jasmine's mother nods and turns around, leaving Charles alone at the edge of the lair. He walks a little ways away, laying down. As night slowly falls the lair becomes quiet. Eventually Charles fell into a fitful sleep. Charles woke up. It was still dark. Slowly he stands up and looks over to the lighting farm. It looked the same as always. He turned around and walked quietly over to the clan leader.. As he nears him, the imperial stands up and looks at Charles.
" Would you like something Charles?" he asks.
" I.. Well I have had this feeling lately. Its like there is something calling out to me and I just had a dream. I was running towards the lighting farm and a shadow appeared beside me. It felt like I had found what had been calling out to me." He replies. The imperial looks at him and nods.
" You would like to leave the lair?" He asks. Charles nods, hoping that the imperial would understand him.
" Very well. I hope you find what has been calling out to you. Good luck and I will not forget you." The imperial says after a pause. Charles nods and turns around, walking away. He stops beside Jasmine and Gracie.
" Goodbye." He whispers and looks up. He walks forward without looking back.
Far ahead of him, past the canyon and far from the lighting farm, a dragon stirs in the shadows.
