The crashing of the undergrowth beneath heavy feet. The roar of the wind in his ears. The narrowing of vision, everything fading away, only his goal in sight. Faulkner was made for moments like this. The rush of blood. The sudden snap of jaws. Another prey felled by the Master of the Hunt. He snatches it up in his jaws, tossing it into the air like a mere cloth as he steps forward to allow it to fall across his back. The Court would be eating well this week once again. He did not intend to disappoint, would scour the land if prey were not as plentiful as it was just to bring home spoils upon spoils.

He may not have gone mad with the power like Demetrius had, but he did still feel it keenly in his bones. The knowledge that he was special, that he was other. He was the Master because he was. He was skilled because he was. He stood above all because he was. These thoughts stayed with him as he made the familiar way back to the Court, ready to hear his praises sung. Ready to see the satisfaction on Shae's face. Ready to know he was exactly where he was meant to be.
