- Biography
Hypatia has been possessed by a thirst for knowledge since she was very young. In her youth she was a bright pupil, zealously eager to learn anything she could. With the support of her parents, she rose to early brilliance under her clan's most learned tutors - she seemed naturally gifted at everything from mathematics to poetry. However, her greatest love is and has always been the philosophy and scientific study of the universe. Despite the efforts of her parents and teachers to direct her talents toward something more "practical" or "useful" such as engineering or lightning weaving, the main industries of their clan, she remained committed to the study of things her clan-mates found quite esoteric.
The spires and bright lights of her birth clan were always lit, and the skies over the lightning farms perpetually stormy. It was not until her adulthood, when she met a dragon named Cosmos, and left her clan's territory for the first time - that she finally saw the stars. Soon after the two of them left on a journey together, never looking back.
Their travels brought them to Brightwinter. Here on the mountain's flank, the skies are often clear and the atmosphere is thin, and their philosophies have found acceptance. Some of their new clanmates are quite fascinated with their studies, and the council has been highly supportive of their endeavors, even granting them permission to work with the clan's master architect and begin the construction of an observatory on the summit of the mountain.
