Miasmyth

Mia was born when the stars fell from the sky. Of course, her parents had an answer - those shining, streaking, swangsong stars were actually meteors, rocks and debris from outer space burning up in the night skies over Sornieth. To the young hatchling, they were as magical as they were resplendent and beautiful. She stayed up as late as she could, glimpsing them through her papa's telescope, helping her mama keep a tally of how many per minute they could see... or simply gazing, enraptured, at the sphere of dancing lights above. She learned to fly not under the sun, but to dance along with the stars, stretching her young wings to chase the streaking lights, until one night something she had never seen took place.

A blazing fireball, brighter than nay other, streaked across the sky and seemed to fall to ground somewhere over the horizon, all in a brilliant flash that shook the very ground. A star had actually fallen! Or, rather, a meteorite.... The young lady began to pack her bags immediately, her curiosity sparked by the brightness and the spectacle she had witnessed. Her parents and clan wished her well as she set off to see where the meteorite had landed, her travelling satchels full of note-taking materials and gifts from home. What she might discover, she could only wonder....
