Memory began as an idea. A lonely little hatchling that stumbled into the Court's territory, unnoticed by the Court itself, tucked itself into the undergrowth of the Foxfire Bramble and shivered the nights away. They dreamt of somewhere bright and green, with warm sunshine and soft grass blowing against their scales. They would wake to the darkness of wood and a deep melancholy began to set in to their heart. Day after day, night after night, the cycle continued on until they were too weak to even lift their head from the ground. They longed to be found, to be taken to that bright place they dreamt of. They longed for love, sweet fruit and kind voices. It is then a gentle light began to glow. The hatchling blinked and squinted at it, shivering from the sudden change in temperature. It was warm. They could smell the wide open grasses of their home. How had they come here? Is this where they would stay? They peered deeper into the growing light, a silhouette slowly began to solidify. A coatl, the same color as the sun's rays, sat before them. The light began to recede into the dragon itself. The hatchling cocked its head ever so slightly, not possessing the energy to properly convey their curiosity and confusion. The coatl reached out a claw to the little hatchling. The words were shaky, barely a whisper: "Where are we going?" The coatl smiled, soft and genuine, "To your new home." "Will there be sunlight?" "There will be firelight." The coatl gently scooped the little hatchling in his arms, "And food. Song, dance, companionship." "I want to see the sun." "I know, my little one. I will be your sun, your wide open grassland. One day when you are stronger and no longer need me, you will see your memory once again." "My memory?" The coatl nodded, starting for the Court of Stone. He had never been there before, in truth he was younger than the little hatchling clutched so close to his body, but he felt timeless. Somehow he knew that he had always been here in this space. The Court would accept him, would accept his little hatchling. "My memory..." the hatchling repeated, raising a trembling claw to the coatl. He smiled down at them. "Yes. Your Memory."
