A proud devotee of the Sunbeam Court, Daybreak had his work cut out for him when he first arrived at the Silent Crow. It was Gabrielle who originally brought him into the fold and he worked his way up from the Acquisitions Department. It wasn't easy or simple. Daybreak was always after money, wealth. Money is his one great motivator and he never would have been involved with the Crows at all if he hadn't started to run out of it. Much like Solarius and Gabrielle, Daybreak was born into wealth, so when he suddenly found himself without it, he took it personally.
Daybreak was acquainted with Solarius and had watched him follow Gabrielle to the Tangled Wood with little explanation of what his new job actually, well, was. After a whole train of letters back and forth between the Sunbeam Ruins and the Tangled Wood, Solarius told Daybreak to make the journey and come prepared for an interview. Daybreak jumped at the chance. Although there was skepticism at first, Daybreak referenced an extensive knowledge of merchants' guilds in both the Ruins and the Starfall Isles; Eloise took a calculated chance and put in her vote to sign him on.
The Acquisitions Department suited Daybreak decently -- he didn't have to do any of the grunt work. Instead, he developed strategies and game plans with Eloise and accompanied her on business trips across the various territories, introducing her to his contacts in the Starfall Isles and other farther off locations. Chisai's trust in Daybreak grew and soon he was taking tea with her in her upstairs office. It was quite some time until the offer came, but the offer did come and suddenly Daybreak was sitting on the Board.
He is sometimes regarded as one of the more frivolous higher-ups and Eloise certainly doesn't answer to him, but his knowledge is well-respected and the Chancellors take his opinion into account when the situation calls for it.
