Velanna is a sensible child of eccentric parents. Her parents clutched and hatched her right after arriving to perform at the Clan of the Outcast. She loves her parents, but she also loves the clan: if they left, she would most likely remain behind. Not only does she have friends, a mate, and a solid profession, but she adores the forest that surrounds the lair. And, not unimportantly, she knows three languages: Draconic, Outcast Pidgin, and the native Coatl tongue last. She worries that if travel took her to the Ashfall Waste, her fellow Coatl would consider her something of a disappointment.

Here in the Clan of the Outcast, on the other hand, she is well-liked and respected. As a hatchling, she was an avid learner, and as a result has developed into a skilled herbalist. Serious ailments are saved for one of the clan's Fae healers, but if a foraging dragon runs afoul of a particularly thorny bit of underbrush, Velanna is the dragon they seek out to treat the resultant scratches. She is also a master of settling upset stomachs and treating bug bites for those dragons whose hide isn't thick enough to protect them. Amethyst often calls on her to teach the young plant-eaters of the clan which foods are safe, and which will make them sick. Velanna can be found in the creche, surrounded by tiny clan-mates, at least once a week.

Recently, Velanna has also found a dragon to share her life with. Enid wandered into the clan's territory a few months ago, looking for local plants to purchase, and the two of them bonded over a love of herbology. The snapper has since altered her trade route to make the Clan of the Outcast her home base, and the two of them are inseparable when Enid is back from her journeys. The time apart can be hard, but Velanna's father Bion gifted them a mated pair of perchers, who are trained to seek one another out and serve as letter carriers for the two love-struck ladies. This makes Enid's abscences tolerable, and Velanna more determined to keep the Clan of the Outcast as her home.
