The seasonal emissaries are four dragons, typically feminine in identity, who have found a higher calling in protecting the cycle of seasons. An emissary is born when prophetic dreams of seasonal events reach a dragon, allowing them to attune to the changing weather and reach the apex of their strength during said season. Typically, dragons from ice or plague will become winter emissaries, those of fire or light will become summer emissaries, those of earth or shadow will become fall emissaries, and those of nature or wind will become spring emissaries. Those in arcane, water, or lightning vary wildly, though water is typically associated with cooler seasons, while lightning manifests the warmer seasons. Seasonal affinity is often hereditary - even if a dragon does not become an emissary, the children of emissaries may be able to sense minute changes in the air, particularly during their parent’s season. Lola is a winter emissary, and with this comes the powers to sense when weather cools, as well as when snowstorms are arriving. Her first vision foretold a merciful chill striking Dragonhome as the weather refused to cool, after which she began to thrive in winter, a chill wind following behind her every step. Her children, Lorelei and Horace, have not currently shown any seasonal affinity, though Horace has been gone from the clan for long enough that Lola wonders if his abilities have awoken. Soft-spoken and a self-identified pacifist, it is incredibly difficult to get Lola to show aggression. She believes in a harmonious existence with others, that she might simply live and let others live, but will let her anger be known if she believes someone is being harmed - and she will raise her claws to anyone who dares harm a hatchling. Her gentle and caring nature belies a darker side, however, as Lola is prone to brooding and takes insults much harder than she feels she should. Though she is honest, Lola will also trip over her own words frequently, and she has almost literally tied herself in knots trying to recover from her own verbal mishaps. |
