Biography

No one really knows who Urteau is, or where he’s from. His eyes are the only clue most people ever get, the tell tale dark red of a plague born. He analyzes everyone he sees with a cold and wary gaze, assessing how much of a threat they are, and the best means to fight them. His whiskers are short, as if he, or someone else, cut them until they were only a fraction of the typical pearl catchers length. No one in the clan understands the friendship between him and Micah, the clan leader. If you ask Urteau about it, you’ll get a glare, and the cold shoulder. If you ask Micah, you’ll get a smile, and on the rare occasion he doesn’t change the subject, you’ll be told something so confusing and irrelevant that it leaves most scratching their heads, and no closer to understanding him to begin with.

What everyone does know however, is that Urteau trusts only a handful of people, and will fight viciously to protect his clan. He doesn’t use magic, preferring to fight up close and personal with his opponents. Not only does an aggressive pearl catcher catch many off guard, his claw is an unexpected challenge to deal with. If he gets even one hit in with the small blade, the fight is as good as over. It’s small, but unlike most pieces of similar apparel, it’s wickedly sharp and serves him quite well. It’s unexpected, as is the poison coating the sides. If it doesn’t kill, it causes the victim to lose strength, and fall unconscious.

What little is know has caused more than one to speculate wildly. Is he a dragon, or something more sinister? What drove him from his home territory to a domain where he is inherently at a disadvantage? And how is he so adept with an assassin's blade? The pool of guesses is wide, ranging from realistic to something right out of a book. Whatever the answers are, he certainly isn’t telling.
