Biography
| SALAZAR |
The Metallurgist "Speak up! All the noise you folks have been complaining about from miles away, I happen to experience full blast front and center!" |
|
Gnarled, reserved, and grumpy beyond belief, Salazar is one best left to his work and nothing more. A lifetime of clanging metal and hammers against anvils has made him significantly hard of hearing, making conversation and socialization with him an infuriating hassle with nothing but frustration for both parties involved. As a result, the majority of the clan knows very little about him and his life prior to residing under Sorien, other than the fact that his skill in forging armor and weaponry from raw ore certainly reflects a highly superior quality that could only be brought directly from the Ashfall Waste. So skilled in fact, that only those knowledgeable in his craft would be able to see the peculiar lag present in his work, most uncharacteristic of his perfectionist species-
When he had lived back in the realm of the Flamecaller, surrounded by metalworkers that were practically born and bred to do the work they do... something about it all had caused the fire in him to dim, a disappointment he just couldn't explain. If all this skill to churn the fires and mold the metals to his will was born in him from the beginning... then was it even worth commendation? Was there any pride to take from a skill that was instilled in him from the very beginning? The meaningless views of his own talents had plagued him terribly, so much so that he eventually traveled far away from the land of metalworkers to the opposite end of the world in the Nature Flight, wondering if he could ever feel passion for his craft ever again. His skill in metallurgy was offered to Sorien in exchange for residence, though his work remained uninspired. It wasn't until a rival blacksmith, Aiden, joined the clan, that his demeanor took a sudden change. She scoffed at his work, accusing with disdain that he could do so much better, and when he looked closer at the one who would dare critique the craft he was practically made for, he found himself staring at a dragon not of Fire... but Nature. An element so far removed from the spirit of metallurgy, and yet she showed incredible knowledge, skill, and love for her craft. And she looked him, a bred blacksmith, directly in the eye... as her equal. It made his blood boil. After an age of disillusionment he finally felt it again, a fiery surge of inspiration to prove himself... |
