The softest wings in the clan belonged to the hardest mercenary.Shayla was not raised into such a profession, but it did get her by very nicely. Though she wasn't against killing other beings for an income, her other jobs required spying and protection. She took jobs from both dragons and Beastclan alike, and there were many dragons who disrespected her for it. But as far as she saw, all money spoke the same language. During a particularly long job of sitting in the same patch of desert for days, Shayla happened upon a traveling group of dragons north from the Shifting Expanse. It was an impressive amount of diversity, though what surprised her the most was the Fae taking the lead. Next to her was an orange Tundra and a cloaked Guardian. Directly behind her were two Wildclaws, one of which caught her eye. The dragon that she was meant to get intel on, a Wildclaw of green and purple hues and a set of crystals under his wing, was right in front of her. Shayla pardoned her intrusion and introduced herself. She asked the Fae, who she learned was Sprig, if she could travel North with them as it would be safer for her. This way she'd be able to naturally gather intel on this young Wildclaw, Castor. Castor who, despite all her efforts to be kind, wanted her gone as soon as possible. To spite him, Shayla stuck around to grate on his nerves longer than necessary. Soon, that malice turned tender when she discovered who he was underneath his tense exterior and later learned of his daughter and how her upbringing and withdrawal from the clan scarred him. Her heart grew to love him, and in turn Castor began to feel warm. Though hear heart decided for her many days into their shared journey, Shayla's head decided that she would give up her current job and stay with the Spriggan Hearth clan, leader willing. She never saw the centaur that originally gave her the job ever again, not knowing that it was the same one that scarred her lover's offspring. |
