She and her brother, Souchong, are named for Lapsang Souchong, a famous black tea. There's more lore about the two in her brother's bio.

Lapsang is very proud of her work and her heritage as a member of the Tea Flight. With the aid of Poinsettia she personally grows the tea leaves and makes sure they are absolutely perfect. She's always blending new varieties of leaves and making new kinds of tea, each of them as equally wonderful as the last. While her more outgoing brother Souchong goes out and invites strangers to have tea with them, Lapsang often has curious tribemates watching her brew and asking for a little sip. Lapsang doesn't mind, for she judges the quality of the tea by how many cups of tea that same dragon has after that sip (five is common) and how many others that same dragon invites to try the tea. A quiet morning of making tea has often turned into a massive teaparty of fifteen dragons or more all enjoying multiple pots of whatever new tea Lapsang has created. While she's rather soft-spoken and, at times, shy Lapsang loves seeing how a pot of tea brings them together and she enjoys every moment of it. Souchong also enjoys the sudden gatherings of dragons at their table and treats them to pastries (at times he's had to invite Creme over to help him make enough pastries for all their guests, though he never lets on how much work it is and cheerfully serves).
