As a young dragon, Pallida was found floating lifelessly along the shoreline into Steel Crest's boundaries, his limp body stirring the waves that Aquarius so carefully monitors. He was brought into the cove to recover for days until he stirred, waking up and proving to be a bit of a nightmare for his hosts. From his waking moment, he spent the entire day tearing the small cave he was left in to shreds and rather impressively spitting venom far across the cave at anyone near, until his caretakers were forced to bring in reinforcement-- venomous and poisonous dragons immune to his flesh-rendering spitting. The first to deal with him was Vitiligo, a fellow Plague dragon that was experienced dealing with his Flight's rather ornery offspring. For a year and a half, Pallida stubbornly remained in his cave bound by a chained collar, and a special muzzle made for him that prevented him from spitting on anyone. His confinement greatly upset the clan's pacifist matriarch, who insistently visited him to learn if there was any way she could free him without endangering her clan or their neighbors, but the conversations always ended with Pallida hissing loudly and attempting to break through his bindings to rip Asala's throat out. He watched prisoners come and go, but he continuously spat curses towards the clan. As he watched, he began to realize how flawed and entirely easy it would be to escape from here if he could only break these cursed chains. Although the clan's dragons were able to fix his loosened bindings every week or so, keeping him firmly bound, Pallida grew in strength. He tugged, yanked, screamed, clawed until finally his chains shattered and he broke open his cell, launching into immediate action to run free and kill everything in sight. He ran into rooms and created chaos, maiming dragons and making his way to the entrance until a large, fuchsia Guardian laid across his path of destruction. Caught by surprise, Pallida whipped his chains across Gloria's neck and spit in her eyes, biting and clawing at her neck until he found himself rolling underneath her crushing weight. Hardly a moment passed before the fight was over, leaving the Coatl mostly squished and bruised with the air knocked out of him, but alive. He was alive, and he felt almost satisfied. Steel Crest Clan was outraged, but Asala calmed them with encouragement. The destruction Pallida left in his wake was manageable, for he was a small Coatl, and the dragons he managed to successfully damage with venom were no strangers to permanent scarring. He seemed to have gotten the worst out of his system, and now walked without striking at various dragons. Asala had him stay if he pleased, with mild surveillance. He now talked to other Coatl that translated his story to the other dragons and when the itch came to claw and spit, Gloria entitled herself to be his sparring partner. From there, Pallida and Gloria began to have a mutual respect and formed a relationship through hunting and travelling. For a short year, Pallida left with Gloria and became amateur mercenaries for hire but they were very, very good at what they did. Together they hunted down target and prey at their leisure and Pallida began to form more as an adult dragon with more depth than just ripping and tearing. He hated Flight politics, he acted old and stubborn for such a young dragon, but he was very open minded. The young, rebellious Gloria entirely related to him and suggested that because they were independent dragons that Steel Crest was the perfect home for them, politic free and paradise to any dragon wishing seclusion. After all, he had no particular gripe with the cove for understandably tethering him when he was being outlandish so it was decided that they'd live there and they began to spark ideas of nesting to each other. In the present, Pallida has now stepped up as the Warden of Steel Crest. Becoming a welcomed member of the cove was no easy feat to achieve at first, but once he had shown he was no threat, the clan opened up to him as they have for many others. He now stands guard over the cell he was kept in, where his life truly began, but now with real criminals passing through that suffer his frightful interrogations. In between his time as Warden, he tends to nests between him and Gloria of hatchlings that grow to be large and rebellious dragons themselves, making their parents proud. |
