Being born in the Scarred Wasteland set Rigby up for certain things. He's not like the typical Pearlcatcher might be, though he still treasures his pearl as he is supposed to. He doesn't think he's better than anyone just by virtue of his species and could care less about the Lightweaver's other children. In fact, he doesn't care much at all about the Lightweaver, having been born in the Plaguebringer's shadow. He believes that he is better than others purely by virtue of his abilities, and he has the scars to prove it, but he is also humble enough to admit there are dragons out there that he could not defeat in battle. Against those foes, he uses stealth and subterfuge.

But Rigby's angry exterior was nurtured into him through the harsh reality of his birth. Beneath it, a scared soul lingers, waiting to be reached by anyone who would break through the hard exterior. Rigby is capable of great love, kindness, and generosity. He just needs to heal first.
