Persephone wanted to practice magic. More specifically, reading into the fortunes of others. Despite her best efforts, she often found the new cards she'd gotten from that shady festival stand to be difficult to interpret, giving her strange shifty fortunes of her clanmates. She'd seen, er... Well, it's the blood card, some sort of injury, possibly? Or maybe the water card and nature card means something with wetness.. oh, frogs, perhaps? Yeah, gotta be frogs...

She ended up turning to pearl-reading instead, deciding to try and give other pearlcatchers a view on their future thanks to the swirls and patterns of their pearls. The treasure she made from telling people vague-enough fortunes to get them to believe was decent enough to end up being worth it. After all, what the heck did those cards ever do for her, anyway?

The swarm of blood-thirsty frogs that ran through the lair last night was probably just a coincidence, anyway.
