Donohtha was not a love child. His creation was nothing but the result of a witch weaving her wicked net of spells. By the time he was out of his egg and alive, his mother was long dead, slayed by his own father. His two sisters were dead, one smashed right in her egg, the other slowly withering away from injuries too great for the unhatched child to cope. Donohtha remained, his egg damaged and leaking, both blood and fluids the child within desperately needed. His father - ashamed by the things he had done, decided to try and save the child, his child, but by the time he arrived at his clan, there was little that could be done to undo the damage.

The Child would survive, but with a body that was greatly damaged, it would be crippled and blind, but alive. His father decided that he could not raise the child, the guilt was too strong. He gave Donohtha to an allied Clan in Plague, was so quick to give his son away that he didn't even gave him a name. When Donohtha finally hatched, he was just as the healer had said he would be. There were darkened scars over his face, his eyes milky and clouded, his wings were weak and too fragile to ever lift him in the air, while his entire body was bony and sickening thin, starved from the fluids he had needed and from countless infections that befell the damaged egg. His weakness was greater than the need to form his own pearl, Donohtha collapsed before he could even start to chew his own eggshell and had to be taken away.

The first years of his life were a blurry nightmare, a constant switch between being bullied by the older children and staying in the healers cave because his injuries were taking another toll from him. Donohtha suffered terrible loneliness through other pearlcatchers, most refused to talk to him because he had no pearl, other children didn't want to play with him due to his blindness and his slow, weak body, even the adults tended to avoid the boy, because of his fragile health or because they were to busy. Donohtha learned to despise others, despite the tries of his aunt Aiea to show him the opposite of life, nothing could pull the young Pearlcatcher out of his depressed state of mind. In a final attempt to wake Donohthas spirits again, Aiea took the child with her, back to her home, to their family.

She had hoped that this would help Donohtha to become stronger, to overcome the weakness of his body. Aiea hadn't thought that the boy would be able to piece the horrible truth together from only a few vague conversations and snatched up pieces. Nobody expected this, how could they? Donohtha had always been a silent child, stoic even. Finding out the truth caused something to snap within him. Realizing that his own father was the reason for this nightmare that Donohtha called a life and that he hadn't even the stomach to raise him himself, caused him to lose every control over himself.

Donohtha was not nearly as destructive as his aunt or his uncle, but his words hurt more than every blow ever could. Donohtha screamed and shouted, lashed out blindly, hitting nobody but the wall and screaming out years of inner agony, of loneliness and hurt, transformed it all into black, burning hate, a weapon that was pointed at his father's heart. He would never forgive, never forget, Donohtha swore under tears of rage and anger, that he would kill his father for this, he would bring him down and take his revenge. That was the last time, Aiea had tried to help Donohtha, that anyone had tried to help the blind pearlcatcher. He had transformed, from a lonely child into a spiteful, hateful and bitter adult, that pushed everybody away in the most painful way possible. Donohtha didn't tried to hide his hate against his own kin, against the Clan that took him in, he showed it open and with sharp words, not caring about the pain he caused with his behavior.

Becoming Plague-Fangs Merchant was not his idea but the Clans. They thought that he would sober up a bit, loose his hateful edge on the road. Instead, Donohtha only saw himself in the right, they sent him away, he thought, not caring about him anymore. As a result, Donohtha refused any kind of guard, threw everything Plague-Fang offered as help back into their faces. Everything he had was his familiar and his small cart full with all kind of wares.
It was this vengeful, bitter, even violent behavior that saved Donohtha from certain doom, the day the earth gave in, the day Plague-Fang crumbled and crashed, collapsed into nothing but roaring waves and crumbling debris, he had been outside of the Lair, on the road, selling his merchandise with bitter mimic and relentless annoyance thick in his voice. When his aunt Aiea came to him, found him on the market place, still panting and smelling of dust, blood and death, when she told him the terrible news, Donohtha could only laugh, bitterly, without joy. While he had never loved Plague-Fang as his home, while he had only known a never ending nightmare within the lairs walls, he was not overjoyed, this was not how he wanted them to suffer.

His hate poisoned mind softened a bit, grief managed to do what years on the road never could, even tho the grief was not his own. Aiea's cries and sobbing crushed the little bit of heart Donohtha had left, that was not covered to the brim with ice and heavily guarded with sharp sarcasm and cynicism. Even someone emotionally stunted like Donohtha knew that they could not stay on the road forever, he knew that they had to return to his aunt's home. To his father's home. Despite knowing this, Donohtha protested, cried and screamed, refused to set even one foot in the Lair of the one responsible for his crippled body.

It took a long time and a lot of talking from his childhood Idol Asgore to convince Donohtha to step inside, to not rest outside the walls like a dog kicked outside by abusive owners. And even then, even after all the talking, promising, Donohtha remained hostile, snarled when he caught the scent of his father and terrorized his younger siblings with his loud, shrill screams of untamed wrath whenever they dared to bother him.
