A distaste for all things beautiful, hatred for all things joyful and disgust to everything good, The very air around Cheshire smells like death and hatred, and most would not give a second thought to concept of her killing people for fun. Some are even convinced she is the Devil incarnate, some sort of demonic entity seeking to destroy the land. She never denies nor confirms this, having fun watching people get awkward, even scared, when she arrives to scene, poking fun at their coward-like behavior near her.
And yet, she has cold and painful look in her eyes, loneliness in her words and misery in her movements: she's lonely, with no-one who would consider her as anything else than horrible thing that should be gotten rid of. Only one who seems to even want to be near her is their grandma, Pamela, and even she seems to be quite uneasy.
However, even when all this seems pretty cut and dry, she is probably one of least crooked dragons: honest to a fault, she never lies about things directly, although she might leave out details. She admits she has killed before, but only because she had to to keep her own life. And it's not like those dragons didn't deserve it. And she would never harm anyone who wouldn't deserve it.

Despite her not really caring of theories other dragons throw around about her and her origin and reason of existence, there's one thing that makes her angry: blaming her for something she didn't do. More than once other dragons have suggested her being behind several unnatural deaths that have occurred, which has caused her to get angry, almost attacking them in blind rage.
The reason she gets often blamed is, aside from the odd air she has, because of her interest to corpses and death in general. She herself has slight necromancy-related powers and has brought few dragons back from the other side, for reasons she will never reveal to anyone, and knows variety of more suspicious forms of magic use, and can detect use of them easily.

So is it any surprise that when Death herself asked her to study under her and offered her the chance to be the next death, she took it without hesitation.

Granted, a lot more than her social standing played part in acceptance of such duty: she was born sick, from not-so-long line of sick coatls, and knew she wouldn't live long without something that would weaken the Nosos-virus and the effects it had on her. She had seen her uncle-cousin Sober die from this illness, watched as it's effects destroyed her family and caused her sibling to get murdered cold-blood, and felt the horror of coughing up blood and loosing tons of feathers constantly, to the point she could have filled several pillows with them. Being Death's apprentice made it so her physical ailments stopped altogether, at least until she would complete her training and be allowed to finally die. Of course other causes of death, like being stabbed, still apply and if something of that kind would happen, she'd become new Death straight away, due to having the symbol that grants this carved to her hand.

She is funnily enough not biggest fan of her mentor, finding Libitina to be boring and very old-school, despite her herself having deadpan expression 24/7 and not liking anything most people consider 'happy' and 'good', like sunshine and laughing. She however has found some sort of spiritual connection to one of creatures serving under death, Vengeance, and when two meet they often have casual interactions doing 'friend-things', like making lists of 'most killable clan members' or catching souls of freshly dead dragons and holding them in jars for few weeks in case they need to 'quickly resurrect some of them'. Libitina doesn't say or do anything to this, but she does not approve it to the slightest.
Despite her often disrespecting her, Cheshire is terrified of her mentor, knowing very well she is dealing with the death itself, and is careful to not go too far just in case.
