Devec was a young dragon - young and foolish. After her sister went missing, her family moved to the Forgotten City, where she grew up under the watchful eyes of her parents. She was never allowed to venture close enough to even see the veil of darkness surrounding Hewn City, and so the Spiral all but died of curiosity about it. And so one day, while her parents were working on a case on the other side of the city, Devec snuck out to take a look at the strange phenomenon.

She wasn't brave enough to even touch it, but for the following years she often wondered what the world would look like from the other side of the veil. Until one day, she decided to wonder no more.

Their names had been forgotten. Washed away by time, erased by the shade, gone forever. Just like that, their lives were over before they'd even begone. All that remained was corruption - an eternity, forever trapped between existence and death, while denied both.

Their fate was cruel, yet also been befitting of what they were, and may even have been just, had it come to affect other individuals of their kind....
