Backstory:
Specklefur was Duskshadow’s clutchmate, one of four. He was also sent to the auction house and separated from his sister, who befriended a Water ridgeback named Riannon. When the two of them were bought by Blade, Specklefur was left alone in the storerooms. However, he was bought by a large Guardian dragon, who turned out to be Blade’s mate, Stonescale. Duskshadow had convinced her to buy her brother as well. He soon became the clan’s librarian.

He also had one clutch of eggs with Riannon before they split up, and he found a new mate with Tempest.

Combat:
Specklefur, like his sister, is noncombative. He shares her magical abilities, and while he is not often called upon to fight, maintains the level 5 standard. He often talks to distract enemies and then slams them with a spell midsentence, when they are least expecting it.

Personality + Hobbies:
Like his sister, Specklefur is gentle for a Plague dragon. He enjoys sorting books and then rearranging them, over and over. He also takes great pride in the condition the clan’s library is kept in, polishing the scroll cases and carefully preserving all the parchment. He will also read for hours on end.

He also has fun playing with the clan’s hatchlings, and occasionally will drop in. As the clan’s first Tundra, he was also the one to start the practice of adding Tundra fur to the nests as well as reeds, feathers, and moss. Most eggs are incubated on a nest at least partially containing pale golden-brown strands from him. He has an ongoing friendly debate with Duskshadow about how much fur is appropriate- he insists that she is bald, but concedes some fur, as seen in Pearlcatchers, is better than none, like most dragon species. He maintains that he has just the right amount of fur and is not by any means ‘too hairy.’

Even though he broke up with Riannon, he maintains a close relationship with Brisote and Agaravel, his two daughters by her. He will occasionally hear from Borasco, in a Shadow clan, but was never very close to him. You can often find him with Brisote and Agaravel, curled up in a big pile of golden fur and purple-black wings.

Familiar:
Specklefur’s familiar is a giant bumblebee that buzzed into the den one day but was overlooked. Specklefur, even though he was just a baby, was the only one who befriended it. It is soft and fuzzy, and remarkably does not have a sting. It is used as a nursery companion at some times, but usually can be found in the library cave, helping him find certain scrolls. It feels at home in there- the scroll cubbies on the wall look like honeycomb, and one of them is the bee’s nest instead of a scroll case.
