Koyo

He was once the life of the Snowsquall Tundra. Young, bright, and strong, Koyo was well-liked throughout his clan. He was never without a good word to be said, always looking out for the well-being of the others. So, they were not surprised when he tried to get on the good side of their newest member, Satsuki. Good old Koyo, they said. Every single day, he made an effort to speak with her, something no one else seemed to want to do. It was just like him. Eventually, it seemed he had made progress. The female seemed to improve, her behavior just a little less odd than it was before.

Then something happened.

They had tried to ask him what was wrong. The leader approached him almost immediately, yet he gave no coherent answer. He appeared as fit as a fiddle, yet it was as his mind was blank. Even those who had not known Koyo for long could tell there was a difference. No longer smiling, no longer friendly, no stories to tell. The clan was genuinely worried, and they tried to help him. They did their best, trying to remind him of his old self. But they did not know what was truly wrong with him. His mind was, indeed, blank. He could still function fairly well; he could walk, fly, eat. But he stumbled. His wings flapped awkwardly, carrying him slowly through the sky. He could no longer hunt. He needed help just to find his way back into the lair from the stream nearby. What kept the rest of the clan at bay was the fact that it was Satsuki who took it upon herself to help him with all of these things.

Koyo was gone, the clan could do nothing to help, and only Satsuki knew the truth.
