gilded and glitter dust.

every step he takes is accented with the sound of metal; by now, the clinking of chains has become synonymous with his arrival. the sun beats down on his brow, but he revels in it. the light is his kingdom, after all.

sun bleached and shining.

his lantern illuminates the path before him, guiding him around brush and bone. he's nothing more than a specter in the night, navigating alongside the winding riverbed with ease. foliage tickles his scales. the banks are his home, the mud his balm.

day and night; night and day.

there are two sides to every gleaming coin. heads: skulls bleached pale ivory, neat rows of ribs like the bars of a cage. extravagant, heedless, capricious. life is a show, and he, the star. tails: the absence of light, the darkness that lurks. indifferent, drifting, whimsical. whispers of a traveler, only heard and never seen.
