BIOGRAPHY
A highly advanced mining droid, designed to locate veins of ore along the ground’s surface and mark them for future recovery. Its core programming calls it to wander the countryside, avoiding towns and civilizations wherever possible and dropping spores wherever it goes. These spores burrow several feet into the soil, and should they fail to find anything they go inactive with little harm done.
It’s when these spores strike metal that the magic happens. Metallic tendrils spread and multiply, blanketing the area with iron thorns, and then blossom into flame. These fiery flowers send roots deep underground, sampling whatever ore they might find. They also serve a second purpose in searing away any plantlife in the area, leaving bare earth ripe for plundering, the industrial infection all that remains. By the time mining crews arrive on the scene, they have a decent idea of the size and composition of the deposit, and a clear enough workspace to begin excavation immediately. And the CHAR, having stayed long enough to ensure the crew’s arrival, moves on. It was not created by anyone in the Directive; its original clan is long gone, likely destroyed by territory disputes over the CHAR's destructive wanderings. Still, it seems fond of dropping by the town, as the Pointe promises it repairs and fuel. While it doesn't appear to communicate in any significant way, it's often found in the company of other constructs. It's usually gently steered away from the lab and toward the forge, where its flowers aren't likely to do any harm. |
