______ Originally Galean is from the Scarred Wasteland where was having a hard time getting new books. No one ever let him read his books in peace, instead annoying him survival training and other such nonsense. Even though he didn't say it out loud he considered his clan to be a bunch of savages, just like all the other dragons in the Wasteland. At least he hadn't been born in one of those wired cults they came across from time to time. Compared to that the endlessly repeating cycle of pointless competitions to see who was the' bestest and strongest' seemed almost bearable. If his clan mates hadn't insisted that he participated and then looked down on him for losing. What? He wasn't interested in their 'exercise' (really a thinly veiled form of entertainment) and rapidly grew annoyed with them. They in turn grew annoyed with him and before they could kick him out he left.

______ Adrift Galean left the Scarred Wasteland and joined a clan in the Twisting Crescendo, where he was not considered a weakling and not surrounded by savages, had better access to books but quite a hard time reading them because of the constant storm going on (why were they living inside a giant twisting crescendo again?). But he was easily accepted and not roped into senseless competitions. He was contempt and ready to settle down here, even if the wind kept ruffling his pages.

______ Then Galean went on a holiday to Clan Sulis Bathhouse in the Sunlit Ruins, where he had great access to books and was not the only one constantly reading them. There was even a designated communal area for that and suddenly Galean realised he had been lonely before, now that he was reading in company. He also learned of the considerable use of hot springs, met a lovely Wind Imperial dragoness named Riku who had recently settled down there and who he found he liked very much.

______ But then the holiday was over and he went back home. After a long flight he settled down to read and the wind joyfully fluttered the pages. Why did he come back again? He said his good-byes, gathered all his belongings and flew straight back to clan Sulis where the receptionist welcomed him with a knowing look and referred him to Clan Leader Brunhilde for registration. She set him up with a nice private spot among the ruins.

______ Riku was delighted to see him again and rightfully hopeful for a joined future. After many hours spent reading together, some more spent bathing together and the odd flight she he asked her to become his mate. She agreed. Her kind green eyes reminded him of the lovely clan he had found refuge with when he had been adrift. Both of them were a bit surprised when some of their hatchlings were born as the mysterious Solstice Dawnbringers, but soon adapted to having these rather peculiar family members.

______ Brunhilde and him figured out what he could contribute to his new clan. So far he had always been hunting, but since he had never been to happy with that and seemed to enjoy reading so very much Brunhilde offered Galean to become an editor for the many scientific works the clan constantly produced and a teacher of reading and writing. Galean was delighted with the editing part but skeptical about the teaching one. Him? Teaching hatchlings how to read and write? He wasn't sure he had the patience for that. Sometimes, he found out, he really didn't but most of the time he did. And if he scared his pupils every now and again with a story of 'competitions', well, that was purely educational./color]
