Surtr

Once an affluent member of a well-established Fire clan, Surtr connivingly staged a revolt in order to gain possession of the veins of precious minerals hidden in the clan's underground deposits. Though he controlled the mines for a time and managed to fill his coffers, his treachery was soon discovered and he was summarily expelled from the clan. His exile led him to the Scarred Wasteland, where he had to pawn off much of his treasured belongings in exchange for untainted food and protection. He was turned away from several clans that wanted nothing to do with rebellious troublemakers, but Ragnar and Astrid rather liked his spunk and so welcomed him within their ranks.

"Do be careful, though," Ragnar had cautioned. "Our underground deposits are filled with nothing but dust and the rotted bones of traitors and would-be usurpers."

"He is joking," Astrid had quickly interjected with a pointed look at her slowly grinning mate.

Surtr's greed for gold is his greatest vice, for he is neither bloodthirsty nor particularly glutinous. To keep him occupied, he has been given charge of the treasury. Truly frugal at heart, he has embarked on a quest to improve the clan's spending habits so that the treasury may retain more gold than dust.
