Ashes had been the second dragon born into the clan, and thus she was a symbol of growth in the lands of Fire. Her parents had been prominent members in the beginning, and Ashes had grown up being fawned over by many a clan member or visitor. She didn't particularly enjoy it- she had always been a prickly little Mirror, but that only made her more adorable in the eyes of many. Of course, being a Mirror, most of them expected her to grow up to be a ferocious hunter, but not many thought that she would become one of the most experienced fighters in the clan, traversing all of Sornieth to battle the Beastclans and bring honor to her birth home. Truth be told, Ashes was a little bit reluctant to step out onto the battlefield for the first time, the idea of facing off against the supposedly ruthless and feral Maren and Serthis was scary to the young hatchling, but she won her first battle in an admirable fashion, and was soon on her way to becoming one of the best fighters in the clan, if not in the region itself. It was the Mirror's tenacity and bravery that guided them through battles, bring home endless riches for her extended family in the clan. There were challenges, of course, like the time she had nearly been lost in the Sandswept Delta after a long and hard struggle against a group of Serthis Potionmasters, or when she had nearly had an eye plucked out by a particularly overeager Apatite Fisher in the Crystal Pools. And there were of course times when she fell in battle, and had to be retrieved by her friends and clanmates, but what was remarkable about Ashes was her drive and her willingness to through herself back into combat every single time. Even though she is not particularly old, a great number of hatchlings and younger warriors greatly look up to her and admire her as a sort of hero. While Ashes would never admit it, it is a little embarrassing to be looked up to. However, she is incredibly fond of all of her admirers, and often takes on apprentices in the hopes that by training them she can improve the safety of the clan if she ever must leave. They are a beacon of hope to the clan, just as she had been in her youth. |
