Biography
Lawrence Hale, Sunbeam
Empatheia
Empatheia
Description
Hale is a sharp-toothed son of a sunny land, and despite never having anyone to teach him he's been quite well-read, eloquently spoken, and formal for as long as anyone can remember. He looks about middle aged, but is in fact quite a bit older than the vast majority of the dragons in Empatheia, not to mention the city itself.
Having moved in shortly after Toro 'The Pig King' came down from Pigsburrow and took over,
Hale has become an instructor and administrator at the Empatheian orphanage. It took him awhile to earn headmistress Lucy's trust, but the two are good friends now. He can often be seen out in the streets with a variable flock of hatchlings hiding behind, snapping at or running circles around his heels, and though his golden eyes have a hawkish sort of sourness to them, it is clear from his actions and tones that he takes pride and joy in his job.
Hale is of particular interest to the vampire Lewis, who occasionally comes to visit him at night.
He doesn't care to explain why and discourages his acquaintances and students from trying to communicate with Lewis and other undead, for whom he seems to hold quite a bit of disdain.
Noticeably, Hale cannot stand to be in the room with artifacts sacred to the Lightweaver, Earthshaker or Plaguebringer, refuses to have anything to do with the plant Vervain, and has been rumored to require some of his preferred students to pay him in spilt blood once they've reached a certain age.

-Events-
6/17/17 - Unicorn, normally repulsed by Hale, appears before him to give a warning. Among Hale's students, rumor leaks out that he is stockpiling skeletons of canines and ursids as well as peony tubers, and seems rather on edge.
10/9/17 - Hale supports Unicorn and Delirio in an effort to drive back the foul demon Antitheus. Neither Unicorn nor Delirio survive, but Antitheus is banished from this realm.
7/21/18 Tyrrel gives an enchanted ribbon to Hale as a gift. Neither will say what it does.
7/23-28/18 - Hale arrives in Railclaw to partake in their ceremonies honoring the Stormcatcher. He brings gifts of artwork and fine cloth. He sings and plays the pipe organ for all four days of Drull's four day symphony, providing occasional accents and transitions as performers enter and exit the stage. After the symphony is over, he provides an elaborate magic show, starring Anubis and Silviannari as spirits of vengeance and forgiveness, respectively.
11/4/19 - Hale receives a letter from duchess Vixen Graves, and reports to Sorrowton to help sort through late Tyrrel's things. He secures as much as he can of the old alchemist's notes and has copies made for himself, Fredrick Faust and Lewis Graves.
1/29/20 - Hale steps up as headmaster at the school and orphanage in central Empatheia, taking Lucy's place as she retires.
