Had he been any less powerful, he would not have noticed the way the two bodied gods breathed. Yet he heard every aspect of it, the way their scales shifted, like a soft scraping. The exhalation of empty breath, a practice not needed yet built in preparation for something, for something..

“You know,” Michelangelo told him as the Arranger was shaping his body. “Our communication is due to you.” Yellow was a new concept, and it seemed the Arranger had taken a liking to it, for across his wings, a maelstrom of pulsing chromatic shapes took root, stark against the darkness of his scales.

“I think…” Rathu ponders. “That it is my destiny.” He takes place in the given body when Michelangelo is done, feels the way the scales mold to him, hears the shifting of scales, the rasp of metal, the hissing of cloth. “We must speak in order to build this great Project. Must be able to discuss what needs to be done.”

“Don’t be... negative.” The Arranger seems to harbor a moment of surprise as he experiences tone of voice, hearing the way Rathu is aware that aspects can be both good and bad. “What do you know?”

“There are many of us, all made of light.” Rathu says, pointing at the entities patiently waiting for a form, an introduction. “All suns have a shadow.”

“I think you’re right.” Michelangelo says grimly, and turns to face the dark void now spreading great astral, starry wings, and Rathu snarls in unbelievable pain as a dark roar echoes across the sky…
