“...those chains…” Daybreak says when he sees him for the first time. “Did I give those to you?”

Kokkinos shakes his head, and the assorted trinkets he’d appeared with clattered and rang. Indeed there were chains spooled around his wings, but they’d held his familiar until the damned creature had melted right through them. But he also had tiny bones, and steel bracelets, and plated armor covering his talons.

For good reason. If he were to lay a hand on Daybreak, the young god would burn. His touch was heat, everything flame. He shied away from the nearby god as smoke coiled around his antlers, leaking from his very core.

“Have you used your power that much?” Daybreak asks, and looks up into the empty sky. “You can probably see in the dark given your affinity, but I cannot, and it is ever so cold here.”

“What are you suggesting?”

“Create us a sun, Flaming One.” Daybreak says, slowly spreading his wings. “Unspool that burning power, rest easy.”

“So wise for such a young god.” Kokkinos muses, and settles back onto his hind legs. With dismay, he sees scorched talon-prints before him, evidence of his fatal power.

“Think on it.” Daybreak says. “I will know the answer whether or not you tell me.”
