Biography

*Error* had forgotten his name a long time ago. Names meant nothing in the void. Individuality meant nothing. He was void and void oozed into every molecule of his being, twisting and warping until all that was left was *Error* and even that was less than nothing.

He thought often, biting and gnawing on the thick goop that oozed past his maw and coagulated in the hollow of his chest, but felt nothing. Occasionally he dreamed, the phantom stench of earth and rain and sun unbearably nauseating in the vast nothingness around and inside and everywhere and nowhere until he couldn't follow his own mind and the burn of his own thoughts faded into apathy once more.

And, suddenly, he wasn't alone. She was cold and fierce as the void, empty eyes white and dead but death meant nothing in a timeless place but somehow it meant everything; it was so hard to remember why it mattered. She bit and clawed and it hurt -when was the last time anything hurt- and burned-when was the last time anything was anything but nothing- and was something in the nothing, the light in the dark; intangible proof of life and self and existence.

He could not escape. He was *Error*. He was void and void oozed into and from every molecule of his being. He could not leave. She could not leave. Not anymore. She was like him. But the shimmering, pulsing, alive-but-not-alive eggs they were like stars- bright innocence and calm twinkling against his consciousness. In their own way perverse between them stood a chance. The void had not claimed them; he had not seen them and she had not held them and they stood a chance.

He would not grow attached. He could not condemn them to a life of nothing. He would not care if when they left. The void was always meant to be empty. Dark. Quiet. They meant nothing. Names meant nothing. He did not have a name. The void had nothing. He was nothing.

Nothing to nothingness had to be something.

He did not see the eggs again. All that was left was void. All that was left was *Error* and even that was less than nothing.

The mask of apathy was starting to form.
