Speaks with an Australian accent. Good with children, makes friends easily although he is a tad self-conscious about whether others like him. A little bit vain - keeps his silks as pristine as his armor and weapons. Can act as a diplomat in a pinch, and can work independently when necessary.

He's very lawful and dislikes stealing ("borrowing").. he 'borrowed' as much as any young ridgeback but the major disapproval from his parents, who didn't want to be kicked out of the territory, trained it out of him. Now he considers it his personal burden to fight back his urge to borrow.

Xyris's parents were educated and rather-well off, but stayed in the Outlander camp by choice so that they would not be forced into battle or learning weaponry, as they were both pacifists. They earned their 'keep' by gathering for the clan and acting as couriers.

Xyris is the yellow-eyed grass genus. Xyris means "Iris" in latin, from Ancient Greek "Xuron" = "razor".
