Tiberius Clan Heir | Explorer —–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–——–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–— Tiberius is the first nature dragon born and raised in Tyna's clan, sired by a friendly Nocturne who was kind enough to visit Tyna when she was still the only dragon who lived there. He is a free spirit, going wherever his whims take him. He's a bit rough-and-tumble and often comes home with scrapes and bruises. He is always off exploring, finding lost ruins buried in the depths of the shrieking wilds, or discovering some strange new animal that "totally followed [him] home, can we please keep it?" He lives in the moment, often unable to think about anything outside of what he is currently experiencing, or visualize long-term consequences of his decisions. This leads to an annoying lack of documentation of any of his finds during his adventures, for which his mother chides him constantly. Despite his shortcomings, he is warm, passionate, determined, and insanely loyal. His best friend is Bonegnawer - "Bones," as he likes to call him. He can always count on the tundra to accompany him on any mission (unless he's already doing a task for Gaia), and occasionally act as a compassionate voice of reason, keeping Tiberius grounded and focused. While he knew his mother expected him to produce heirs for the clan, he had no desire to take a permanent mate. Not that he didn't love romancing just about any dragon he came across, but the idea of settling down with one of them was quite unpleasant. So, while it was surprising to everyone when he finally did choose a partner, he was perhaps the most surprised of anyone, especially given that she was one of the few dragons in the clan that he considered off-limits. Lash was the daughter of his occasional romantic partner, Serenity. While he had no desire to settle down with Serenity, he still respected and cared for her. He also respected the temper that he knew resided deep under that calm exterior and he knew that she would take it as a personal offence of the highest order if he were to use and cast aside one of her children on a whim. So it was, that when her daughter, Lasciel, began requesting to accompany him on his travels, she did so as purely a traveling companion. She was very good at it, too. Few dragons in the clan could keep up with him as well as she could. She was smart, fearless, quick on her feet, and she could read him like a book. He knew he could count on her to have his back, were the situation dire enough. She had all the makings of a perfect friend, but one day, things began to change. As the pearlcatcher matured, she seemed intent on catching his interest in a romantic way. At first, he knew she was just doing it to annoy her mother, but as time passed, it became genuine. Even if she wasn't being outrageously obvious, his skydancer empathic abilities picked up her emotions like a sponge. He was determined to be the "perfect gentleman" - at least the way he saw it - and maintain the status quo. However, while he was very good at obtaining romantic conquests, he was a bit of a dunce at deterring them or dealing with the emotions of others. Thus, his idea for keeping her at arms length really just amounted to pretending that he didn't notice how hard she was trying to seduce him. That worked about as well as one would expect, in that it really didn't. The poor pearlcatcher just tried harder until she got so embarrassed and dejected that she began avoiding him. To make matters worse, he had developed feelings for her, as well. When it was just base desire he knew he could ignore it, but it was tangled with trust, friendship, and genuine admiration. He had never felt "love" for anyone before and assumed that he was just picking up her emotions a little too strongly and getting them confused with his own. When she began avoiding him though, he realized that there might be more to it than that. Then, when he heard his mother talking about Lash and her sisters potentially getting exalted to the Gladekeeper, he felt awful. After describing his emotions to Bones, the tundra roughly boffed him on the head and told him that he was "the dumbest smart dragon" he'd ever met and that he needed to do something before he lost the one dragon that might possibly be able to put up with him and his complete ineptitude. Instilled with determination after the unorthodox but effective lecture, Tiberius spoke with his mother and secured Lash a place within the clan. Then he went to speak to Serenity. Serenity took his revelation of feeling about as well as he'd expected - with much loud roaring and a few smacks to the face that left sizable claw marks, and threats about what she'd do should he ever hurt her daughter by casting her aside for some other conquest, the way she'd seen so many other young dragons be hurt by him. He then went and apologized to the lovely young pearlcatcher who had finally managed to do the impossible and tangle him up in a web of emotion. After the two announced their union to the clan, life went on as normal. Tiberius still roams free, exploring every nook and cranny of his huge untamed world, and forgetting to document most of it. He occasionally has companions but his favorite is his mate, Lash, a dragon every bit as wild and reckless as he is. Gods help the rest of the clan, should they ever take their place as leaders. ((and gods help the author if she has to keep writing romantic drivel :P )) —–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–——–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–— |
