Nabu

It would seem that only two dragons have their own personal guards in the entire clan. Nabu has claimed himself as Mawu's guard, not because she needs someone to protect her, but because he believes that he owes her his life.

When younger and foolish, Nabu had become lost in the Foxfire Bramble. He was unprepared with no food and unknowing how to find shelter in the eerie location. While moping in self-pity, a stranger approached him. This stranger asked if he was in need of help and Nabu eagerly answered with a yes. The stranger seemed oddly helpful asking him for a small favor in return and in desperation, Nabu foolishly allowed that the stranger could ask what ever they pleased. This stranger indeed had other plans than saving him. Nabu soon realized as brambles turned against him, burrowing into his flesh sending waves of agony through him that he had made a wrong move. Fortunately for him, before the deal could be made permanent, another Imperial came to his rescue. Her brilliant, shining hide startled and blinded Nabu's captor, it soon fled the scene, not caring much that they had lost the youngster. It was Mawu who had saved him.

However, Nabu was still entangled by brambles and they seemed reluctant to let their prey go. Would this be his grave? Could he ever escape? Mawu could only do so much with her magic ability, despite her best efforts. The younger Imperial was set free from majority of the brambles; however, the few vines that clung to him could not be severed. If severed, Mawu sensed that they could end the young individual’s life. Mawu felt some responsibility for his injuries and altered appearance so she took him under her wing. As he grew, Nabu still displayed his scars and strange growths. He took to hiding his face from not only Mawu, but the few clan members that he interacts with.

Because of Mawu, Nabu still lives and thus, he owes her. Mawu has given him a chance to start his own life, but Nabu refused, claiming that he is most happiest continuing his life by her side. Nabu has become her messenger, her bodyguard, and her sole connection to the clan. He had started to take lessons from the vanguard captain, Aseri, so that he could be of use if battle ever rose. Aseri is one of the few dragons who absolutely believes that Mawu is not a myth. Nabu runs errands for Mawu during the day as that is when she slumbers.

Nabu is a calm and reasonable dragon to be around. That is once other dragons get past his silent exterior. He refrains from talking with others unless they speak to him first. He avoids being around children as he does not wish to frighten them with his appearance. Consider a lunatic by some of the more logical members of the clan who do not believe that Mawu is real.
