______ Isis was the last hatched egg of her parent's first clutch. Born in the first wave of nests in the newly revived Hoarfrost Hollow, she enjoyed the doting of her growing clan, and her parents. Her parents belonged to the Hollow's Whiteout Guard; the most elite of the Hollow's warriors. Her mother, Arcana, was one of the two battle maidens who trained the hatchlings. While all three of her nestmates followed her parents footsteps in martial prowess and were chosen to serve the Ice Warden, Isis lacked such martial aspirations.

______ Isis instead dogged the scholars of the hollow, not for magic lessons, but rather the more esoteric learning of the stars and their movements. She braved the chill night weather every evening to launch herself above the cloud cover and mark the stars and their movements. Her dedication meant that in short order she surpassed her teachers to take her place among them as the Hollow's astronomer.

______ Since she had been a rather unconventional offspring, it should come as no surprise that who she chose to mate with was equally unconventional, and it was definitely Isis who courted Balthasar. Indeed, the astronomer pursued her clan's Champion with the same dogged determination she'd shown in seeking the stars.

Balthasar and Isis wrote:
Hatchlings of Isis and Balthasar could take after their stargazing mother or their fierce and reclusive father. Isis is heavily involved with her hatchlings, often taking them above the Hollow to see the wintery night sky. Their sire, Balthasar, is perhaps more distant but certainly not absent. Offspring that take to more martial arts are likely to get special attention from their sire as he ensures they're likely to survive their vocation.
