‹━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━«
He scraped under his nails almost obsessively. He could still see the dried flakes of blood trapped underneath. A sob rose from his mouth unbidden, no no no no- He just did as his mother asked. She was the one who stayed, she was the one who tried. He never bothered. He never even looked, and ran off with a new family. He was suppose to be Ahlrada's father not theirs. Who even are they? Why do they deserve love, while Ahlrada has to fight for even a look. Why did he have to apologize as he bled out. He said he loved him. Ahlrada had never heard his father say that. Not to anyone. Was it a trick? But why? Why? What was the point in preforming a trick when death was already at your door? Revenge? Did his father hate him so much that he want to stain this moment of triumph. This feat that would have mother look to him with pride? There was still blood stuck under his nails. He'd scrapped so deep he wasn't sure if it was his fathers or his own. He wasn't sure it mattered. It was his fathers blood that allowed him to bleed. Mother never asked anything of him. Her gaze was devoted to Ishaq and even Nuro. Iredari told him to stop looking up to her. Iredari told him he would be fine without her, that he didn't need her. But mother had asked him - not Ishaq, not Nuro, not his sister, but him - to take care of his father while she tracked down the wrench he choose to run off with, and the children he spawned out of cruelty. Father said he loved him even as his blood stained the ground beneath Ahlrada's feet. Ahlrada hated the color red. He hated his sister too. She named her son Lachris. What a joke. It's like she doesn't know. It'd been years. It's like she doesn't know. She knows, she has to know. There is still blood under his nails. Damning evidence. He scrapped beneath them like a dying man. He has been for years. He can't get rid of the blood flakes. Her son looks like him. Looks like their father - he doesn't. Not really. He stares up at Ahlrada like his uncle hung the stars in the sky. Grem and Amoha do too. How stupid. Why is Iredari leaving them with him? Why does she trust him with them? They have so much hope in their eyes. It's not fair. Mother asks him to get rid of Amoha. She messed up. Why would Amoha get involved with demons? She barely has the blood in there body she could just leave it well be alone. Mother still never said she loved him. He killed Amoha anyway. Orcastrated the whole event so her brothers couldn't have saved her if they had wanted too. He was better at that now. It'd been years since his first kill. Years and that blood sticks under his nails like a curse. Whispering that it loves him. He didn't think he'd get Amoha's blood under his nails. Bandits attacked and he shot her with an arrow from far away. Her blood couldn't be under his nails. He wished Grem and Lachris didn't look so heavy with guilt. Ahlrada had made sure it was impossible for them to save her. He made sure. He didn't understand why they looked so guilty. Maybe they knew. No - they had to know. Iredari knew. They all knew. Why was Amoha's blood under his nails? It was brighter, redder. Ahlrada hated the color red. He shot her with an arrow. She never said she loved him. Of course they knew. They knew and they understood why it had to happen. Iredari killed her mate for mother after all. Surely she knew. Why did she still leave her sons with him? Ahlrada hated Ishaq. He kept 'checking in' like he knows. He doesn't know. He's not blood. Not in any real way. Ahlrada hates Iredari too. She smiles at him. She knows. She shouldn't smile since she knows. It's cruel. It looks like their fathers smiles and the disgusting color red bubbled out of his mouth. Mother never said she loved him. |
