The cauldron glimmered, and sputtered, and flashed, and burned, and gleamed, and sizzled, and popped.

A spare hat was dumped in, and a sparking lemming, and a piece of sandstone, and a glass jar.

Glowing claws were made, and two-headed lizards, and whispering necklaces, and all sorts of colorful, pulsing goop.

No one, of course, appreciated alchemy quite like you did. Sure, they tossed things into one of the bogneak's cauldron when they passed him in the marketplace, but it just wasn't the same. They never made things. They weren't gods.

Oh sure, you believed in them well enough. The gods. You had to come from somewhere, didn't you, besides some broodmare's egg. Your patron, the Plaguebringer, she was the most alright out of all of them. You even halfway celebrated Riot of Rot, when you had time. That's way more than what you could say for the other wimps that likened themselves to true creators.

True creators, who recognized their godhood. True creators like you.

These bigwigs made dragons, sure, but true creators could do so much more. You could rip away the life of some creature, transmute it into its untapped power to meld it into something amazing. You could smash together disgusting meats, mold them into jelly that was so much like insects you couldn't taste the difference. You could change dragons into other dragons, rearrange their anatomy, swap around their very molecules until you had something so different, it was almost unrecognizable.
