After traipsing through a rather dark, quiet hallway, you come to the entrance of a massive chamber. Its doorway has been left ever so slightly ajar, leaving the flickering light of torches just enough leeway to peek through the cracks. Cautiously nudging the gateway open, you cannot help but to make note of the space's incredible height in comparison to yourself. It's large enough to fit at least three imperials within, stretching upwards many meters high. Lining the walls are hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of small alcoves, each housing a number of scrolls... Though, most strangely, a host of them appear to be missing. For what reason could this be the case? Organization? Thievery? Luckily, (or perhaps unluckily) for you, the answer to your many questions lies right before your eyes.

It is here that you find the Clan's matriarch. Fussing about at ground level is a rather exasperated bogsneak sorting through a heap of fallen scrolls, grumbling to herself about chaos and escaped hatchlings. Various trade agreements, alongside what one could only assume are other matters of great importance, are scattered about the ground in an unceremonious fashion. With the fervor of a mother cleaning up her unruly child's mess, she appears dutiful, if not exceptionally overworked ⁠— and, squinting at each and every scrap of information to ensure that it be put back in its correct place, she creates order within the chaos, bit by precious bit. Your entrance, of course, is noticed; after all, who didn't need her attention these days? Rather than receiving a warm greeting, however, your arrival is met with a long, begrudging sigh.

"Yes? What is it that you need? I'm a tad busy at the moment, if you couldn't already tell..."

At first, she doesn't entirely turn to face you, instead opting to crane her neck in your direction, side-eyeing you from afar... However, her eyes swiftly narrow as she realizes you're an outsider, her posture becoming just about as defensive as her attitude.

"For what reason have you come here? Did the guards not stop you?!"

How accusatory! You were only here to speak to her, and perhaps view a few minor documents for research's sake. There were no guards to speak of, either, and upon imparting this information, the matriarch hisses. Clearly, the Clan's sensitive documents being scattered about is not her only concern at the moment ⁠— but, at the very least, her foul mood no longer seems to be directed at you.

"Of course they're shirking their work again... I swear, it often seems as if I'm the only one who ever seems to take things seriously around here! They're lucky we're currently at peace with our previous rivals... To think how easy it would be, raiding this place! Burning our entire Clan's history to the ground! Unbelievable!"

Angrily, the incensed bogsneak shoves another scroll into its aging alcove, her nostrils flaring as they let loose a puff of indignant, black smoke. For a moment, she pauses, her tail twisting angrily; then, she regains her composure, and turns a glaring eye to you.

"Well. If you're just going to stand there, Outsider, you might as well make yourself useful."

She gestures to the pile of scrolls, still woefully unorganized and begging for attention upon the cold, stone floor.

"Maybe once you've actually done a bit of good for this Clan, I'd consider letting you access some of our resources. Until then, don't you dare open a single one of those scrolls, or I'll eat you myself."
