sound, and we will not notice until it's too late.

He remembers her face glittering gold as the sun above him and green as the grass far below. Her remembers her voice, creaking with age as she watches him with deep blue eyes. She isn't talking to him. She's talking to his parents. She talks about returning to a home far below the surface of the sea. His parents are nodding as she speaks.

He frowns. The winds whisper gently along his wings, surrounding him as the platform dips comfortingly beneath his feet. He has heard of his parents' home beneath the waves. They liken the strong currents to the stiff winds that peel off the Twisting Crescendo. They paint the sea as an eternal night, with sea creatures and plants acting as stars that glitter and glow in the darkness. They speak of the messages encased in bubbles- the Tidelord's words gifted to them as they listen.

Three pairs of deep blue eyes turn to him. He says nothing, only taking a tiny, hesitant step back. He does not want to leave. He does not want to leave the soft, sweet winds or the sun warm on his back. He does not want to leave his friends and the festivities of Cloudsong. He does not want to lose this carefree life to the crushing sense of suffocation deep in the sea.

But he has no choice. And so he goes.
