History

Created by the Plaguebringer herself, Dhishne has only ever known the Scarred Wasteland. The acid and tangled tendrils catching at dragons ankles as they walked was the norm for her. That was, until her entire clan fell apart and she was forced to move to completely unknown territory.

The Beginning

Located at the edges of the Scarred Wasteland, Dhishne's clan was small. almost too small. She longed for a family. A group of diverse dragons to call home. So, slowly but surely, the numbers went up. The mess all started with a small group of dragons within the lair. Two she had trusted with her life, another who was proud yet insecure, and one who got caught up in the middle of it.

Adonis and Astaroth were invited into the clan as young adults, they were two beautiful imperials who loved each other more than anything else. Adonis always had a bit of a passive attitude, but Astaroth was more snarky with her words and actions. Dhishne was willing to put up with it for a time, since the two were very good at their jobs. Their duties were unlabeled at the time, as Dhishne didn't like assigning titles for the sake of making every dragon feel important in the clan.

Not only was she working alone as the clan Founder, she also was emotionally distressed at the time due to her mate and good friend, Rohit, being exalted to the Plaguebringer recently. Dhishne had never been the strongest of hearts, but given she was in a fragile emotional state, she had spent many nights locked away in her den, neglecting her duties as the Founder of the clan.

Soon, she was able to continue her duties. Dhishne did what she could, and as her clan grew, she knew what she was lacking. Order. It was chaotic and un-managed without titles, rankings, or a name. She began organizing things, with the help of Adonis and Astaroth. She gave final approval on new dragons accepted into the clan, but the others did a lot of appointing titles in her stead. The clan, at some point, was referred to as Downunder.

Finally having a stable heirarchy, Dhishne and her circle maintained the clan peacefully for a long time. Those that consisted of the circle below her were three imperials: Adonis, Astaroth, and Pachua, though that would change later down the road. Pachua was an icy imperial who was held in high regard by all, but his promotion left Chillwind, a smaller pearlcatcher who had been with the clan for a long time, jealous. The two had their conflicts, but they never actually fought— Pachua was strongly a pacifist and remained that way.

Unbeknownst to Dhishne, there had been murmurs of Adonis and Astaroth being disloyal, questioning their matriarch's authority, and eventually word of a coup d'etat. By the time it got to such an extreme, Dhishne was notified, but tensions between Chillwind and Pachua had escalated as well.

"I must inform you that I'm leaving," he spoke, "I respect you and him too much to continue to live and work above him. I wish the both of you and your clan happiness." It was heartbreaking, but she had other matters to deal with, so she wished him luck and sent the imperial on his way.

Once that was dealt with, it was time to confront the three and disband the circle. She has decided that was the best move, after some thought and inner turmoil, and informed the three of them that they would no longer hold any power over the clan. The imps were enraged, and Chillwind seemed to accept it with no issue.
"I apologize for misbehaving. I know I don't have a chance at moving up, but I hope you'll consider keeping me as an ice representative."
"Very well. You are dismissed."

"You can't do this to us. The accusations are false. You know us, you trust both me and Adonis. We earned the positions we have." The imperial pleaded; her confidence in her lies and manipulation disgusted Dhishne.

"I will not tolerate disloyal, disruptive clan members. Especially not those directly below me in rank. You may see yourselves out, find somewhere to go, and never come back. You are dismissed."

After everything had finally been settled, and all of her closest clanmates had left, the fae fell into a deep depression. She refused to leave her home, the tendrils and vines creeped around it as they remained unkempt and untouched. Pustule puddles pooled as the surroundings of her neglected land, and the only dragon that dated visit was a dark, brown-hued pearlcatcher by the name of Cynfaen.

Muketsu Era

During the time she laid, wasting away in her small home, none but a single pearlcatcher visited her regularly. Sure, many did at first, but the more unkempt everything was, the more dangerous it would be for non-plagueborns to get to her. They all slowly stopped making the trek, all but one. Cynfaen wasn't anyone particularly important to Dhishne, he was a new clan member who joined very shortly after the imperials left and the heirarchy fell apart.

He was a shoemaker for some time, simply because it's all he knew, and he would sit nearby and work while chatting with the fae. She often wouldn't respond at all, but slowly began to trust him and feel secure in their relationship. He was one of the only dragons that had ever treated her as a friend, rather than as someone to look up to and obey orders from. She admired that. Even though he was not plagueborn, it didn't stop him. She worried that the acidic puddles and diseased growths would harm him, but he seemed to arrive unharmed.

She heard stories and updates about the clan, who the new leaders were, and what the new members were like. It was fascinating, but she wasn't ready to return. Cynfaen had informed her that the new king and queen were an imperial named Creir and his mate, a bogsneak named Avinti. They hatched a two nocturne eggs, and there were several new clanmates among those. It was nice to hear that they took good care of the clan while she was away.

"Dhishne, if you ever decide to return, will you still be my friend?" Cynfaen had asked the question suddenly, catching her off guard and leaving her speechless for a moment. She gathered her thoughts, before retorting with her own question.
"And if I said no? Would you accept my decision and move on?"
"I-I wouldn't! I know where you live, so I'd just show up and demand an explanation. You're not excused from taking accountability," the pearlcatcher stammered, seemingly frustrated. She chuckled.
"Thank you. I needed to hear that."
