Evergreen Froststar
Princess Prime
Abdicated Year 186

As a baby she was humble and withdrawn, often accompanying her Caster on his expeditions away from the clan. Now an adult and mother more than a few nests over, the Heir is proud and a little selfish. Her hatred of the caverns is poorly hidden from her subjects. Most days no dragon can find her.

Caster took a special interest in this royal hatchling and has taught her much about the life of a ranger. Every time they would roam the night skies he would tell her stories of the fallen king. Her favorite story was the tale of Ghostlight Mine.

Evergreen longs to pull up her hood and travel past the borders of the clan's territory, to be as free as her father was said to have been. Princess-ship does not suit her heart.

- Post eruption: Evergreen Peacekeeper (as her family calls her) lives as a hermit, not understanding why she never aged, why she has never died. While she has never lied about her identity, a great majority of dragons have no idea that the woodswoman is their first lost princess.

Evergreen's Story

The air whipped against her wings with purpose, intent on reshaping the world in the shapes most pleasing to the Windsinger. Every day it was the same. Evergreen prefered the cold wind to the steam-heated chambers of the caverns far below her. Rock and ice crumbled beneath her claws as the Mirror dragon climbed ever higher on the carved holds intended to keep a dragon from blowing away. Not to say that high altitude mountain climbing was advisable in any case. One might assume a princess would not endanger her life when there was a safer path to the warm valley between the peaks... but two hours in a narrow tunnel felt like death to her anyways. It always surprised her just how many dragons would make such a cramped and hot journey simply to see Sunbeam's flowers. If anything ever happened in a tunnel, there was nowhere to go. You could not spread your wings and save yourself. Dragons were made for the sky.

Evergreen experienced a surge of adrenaline as she saw a flock of birds fly so far beneath her they might as well have been bits of leaves. Though it was far harder to balance, the dragon tucked her wings to her ribs. For the last part of the climb she could not risk any gust of wind catching underneath her. The stone scraped against her belly as the path curved up and backwards; the closer one clung to the stone the further from death they crawled.

Upside down now, she slowly rotated her body until her tail was reaching up. Like a tentacle it wrapped around a cold bar of metal that Timber had told her was ancient dragonsteel. A deep breath... Evergreen released her claws.

For a heart-stopping second she fell towards the expanse of earth, feeling utterly weightless.

Then her weight caught on her tail and she swung out away from the rock. At the peak of her arc the mirror dragon extended her wings with a snap, still clinging with her prehensile tail to the small bar that was her only anchor. The wind filled them and yanked her upwards, just close enough to grip more dragonsteel bars-

Her claws snapped shut around the bars and Evergreen was yanked by the wind violently to the side, slamming into the rock wall. By some miracle the unexpected gust had not killed her and she clung with her face pressed into the stone. When the adrenaline had subsided some the mirror continued her long climb.

The garden was filled with light. Beyond the magical glass door into the miniature valley lay terraces and waterfalls that positively burst with plants of all kinds. Lush beds of blue winter roses with snowdrops and blue snapdragons filled the highest levels. Cascades of ivy hung from intricate lattices. A small grove of gleaming almond trees was ringed with sod hedges covered in dayglo thresh blooms, wild mustard and yet another variety of ivy. Everywhere Evergreen looked there were new plants to enjoy.

In the very center of the valley was the sunning rocks she loved the most. They were smooth and each carved of a different crystal. The fluorite one was the largest, but the princess's favorite was the priceless emerald slab which rested in the middle of the small river.
