Nal is chosen to serve as Clan Matriarch after the previous matriarch, Matriarch Nyx, joined Icewarden due to terrible plague. As the oldest dragon in Winterfyre clan, she is often seen as the wise one.

With her vast knowledge in practical non-magical healing, Matriarch Nal saves lost wanderers who fly too far to south from time to times. Those are ill-ridden dragons, pitiful beings, outcasts, and hopeless travelers. Together, she and her mate nurse them back to health and let them join her growing clan once they healed.

Often she can't save them, the wounds and illnesses too severe to cure, and she gives them option to join the Icewarden in His halls.

She had lost nearly all her children but Byleistr and Helblindi, whom she loves dearly.
