Spitz definitely has a few gears loose in her head, at least according to some dragons. She's very much like a cross between a spiral, a java sparrow, and a hummingbird, unable to keep still for more than a few seconds with her wings and heartbeat fluttering so fast they often seem to blur. Her energy is seemingly endless and usually she won't sleep unless she's held down or passes out from exhaustion.
Though she's still very young she's already shown a great natural talent for tinkering and engineering work. Even as a hatchling she was fascinated with mechanical things and how they worked. Where other little ones liked listening to stories or cuddling up with plushies, Spitz could usually be found surrounded by the gears, springs, and sprockets of an upteenth deconstructed automaton. Considering she was born in lightning territory right near the Tempest Spire Mimira isn't all that surprised of the direction she's chosen and suspects someone took her to see the engineers there at work one day, which sparked her curiosity.
Since she was so focused on her tinkering Spitz didn't have very many friends as a hatchling. Even her nest brother Switch pulled away, even more so when he went and turned into a frickin massive Pearlcatcher. He's not as massive as her father or Cosaru, but still. It was only when she was older that she grew close to Mandi and Static. Static shared her love of all things lightning and steampunk, while she and Mandi bonded over their enthusiasm for tinkering and experimenting.
The first thing she ever successfully put together was a broken Golem Gauntlet she had received as a parting gift from Ruse. She'd puzzled over it for a long time and was near giving up when the little bird sparked to life. She's named it Sparky. Shortly after that success Serakem allowed her to set up a workshop in one of the smaller empty chambers in the lair. Sparks can frequently be seen shooting across the floor but so far the lair hasn't caught on fire so no one is too worried.
When Alice approached her out of the blue one day, Spitz was at first terrified. She'd heard stories about the privateer and definitely didn't want to get on the Skydancer's bad side. The more she worked with Alice though, the more she relaxed and after she had perfected the wing supports Alice had requested the two ended up being quite close friends despite their age difference. It was Alice who asked her to help Andromalius as well, a task that Spitz fell upon with excitement. The wiring in Andy's legs was unlike any she had seen before so it posed a delicious challenge for her- one that, if she could overcome, would greatly advance her skills as an engineer and inventor.
Spitz did figure it out. She still checks up on Andy and tinkers with minor things but his prosthetics are functioning again and he is slowly settling back into normal life. If she's not in her workshop she can be found either with Andy, Alice, Static, or Mandi. She considers the four of them her closest companions.
She was surprised when Arthur developed an interest in her, and even more so when she found herself warming up to the Skydancer as well. She never would have thought that such a clean and proper dragon would look at her - the supposed crazy eternally-smudged one - with such affection in his eyes but Arthur does and Spitz's stomach does somersaults whenever she's around him. He hangs around her workshop so much, so genuinely interested in her crafts, that Spitz has set up a plush and pristinely clean nest in the corner that he can lay on. She shows him prototypes and plans, and his excitement for her only pushes her inventions along father.
