Kitten

When a new dragon enters the clan, either by birth or by moving in, Prophecy finds it imperative that she look into their fate. Sometimes dragons are elated to hear their future, while others are deeply upset and work to change it. Prophecy admires this ideology, and enjoys watching fates grow and change with their owners.

When Kitten was first brought to the clan, found clinging to a piece of driftwood by Rain, Prophecy looked into her fate. What she saw concerned her greatly.

She saw nothing.

At the time, the clan took it as a sign that the hatchling wouldn’t survive the upcoming winter. As such, few were willing to give her even half a chance. No one was willing to put in much effort on a hatchling they knew would die.

She had a very stunted growth, possibly due to her half-hearted care. But, nevertheless, she grew. Stronger with each passing day, Kitten made it through the winter and into the spring. It took a while for her to grow into her wings, but when she did, it was the greatest time of her life. She felt defiant, like she had defeated the odds and become someone despite the hardships.

Many believe she will still die prematurely, as Prophecy still cannot read her fate. No one knows what will happen to Kitten, and for many, she stands as nothing but a bad omen.

In reality, she’s just a child.

A child trying to survive in a world where no one believes in her.
